Hello guys, I'm from Portugal and I'm starting my apistogramma breeding, at the moment I have a couple of wild biteaniata nanay and a couple of fire red agassizi, I would like you to help me what should I do, what should I do to be successful with them.. I have been feeding them with plenty of live food "enquitreas" "grindel" "bloodworms", the fish have magnificent colors but still they do not reproduce..
I would like to thank everyone in advance for their availability.

Thank you, AquaGar

Hi all,

They look like they should be in spawning condition. You need someone else to tell you whether your female "A. bitaeniata" is actually A. bitaeniata, but I'm going to assume she is.

Can we have a full tank shot? It occurs to me that the tank might be a bit bare and the female not happy with the potential spawning caves? And are both species in the same tank? And how big is the tank?

In terms of food that seems fine, but maybe a bit more variety? Say some <"Fluval Bugbites"> as well? And possibly some <"Crustaceans"> (Daphnia or Cyclops), they really like <"Crangonyxy pseudogracilis"> if you can find them.

cheers Darrel

I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to clarify me.
For caves I use coconut or a brick vessel.
The tank is 64L.
All species are separate.
Notice the aggressive behavior of the male biteaniata towards the female.

It really is hard to say anything without more information. As Darrel wrote, a full-view photo of each tank would be helpful. Also any water values (pH, hardness, dKH or µS, temperature) as well as tank maintenance and lighting (intensity and length) will help.

The water is soft because I use rainwater.

I think that is a lot of the issue. You need a lot more cover to break up "line of sight".

These are what my tanks look like, it doesn't need to be plants (although they <"help with water quality">) it could be wood and structural leaf litter.

Have a look at @MacZ 's post on tank structure. I can't find it, but I expect he can link it in for you?
The tank is 64L.
What is the footprint? <"https://apistogramma.com/forum/threads/tank-mates-for-a-panduro.25557/#post-126383">.
