You're absolutely right about the empty space around shorter posts. Plus some of the "postbit" info (gender, likes, etc) is really irrelevant. I'll be making a change to this area of the layout soon. I imagine the location and post count info is still pretty useful though, correct?
I'll also be adding a recent posts column to the sidebar area and I haven't forgotten about a lighter theme. Just a matter of choosing a suitable one and tailoring it to fit our needs here...

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone. Sometimes when I have the big picture in mind I forget to take a look at the smaller things like post layouts and such.

I like the new layout Josh. The new features are useful as well (notifications popup works better than any I've seen or used before).
