Looking for Apistogramma with unusual behavior

Hi

I just bought a new tank today (110*50*40 cm) and of course its going to be apistogramma in the tank.

I know all apistogramma has interesting behavior, but is there some apistogramma with behavior
that differ or are a bit unusual? And might be possible to get hold of.

I like to observe apistogramma behavior.

Apistogramma sp. Putzer/Cleaner, very interesting behaviour... I sent some of these over to Norway a few years ago.
Not that easy to find now though...

Just read some about the Apistogramma sp. Putzer/Cleaner, interesting behavior. I guess its hard to get hand on this as you say.

I read on the net that its not easy to keep this apistogramma, as it demands very specific water conditions.
What is your experience keeping Apistogramma sp. Putzer/Cleaner Microman?

Other different species include A. wapisana which show reversed courtship behavior. Or A. geisleri (Smaragd/Emerald), which Dr. Römer reports forms a matriarchal harem if there are large fry predators (like dwarf pikes) in the aquarium. Both come in on rare occasions, maybe once every year or 2. I guess we don't consider mouthbrooding all that unusual in apistos, since it has been observed in 3 different species.

Thank you for the tips Mike. Exciting behavior, will look out for some of those Apistogramma.

I did not know there where observed mouthbrooding in other Apistogramma than A. barlowi
Did a little search to find out who the others where. Is it correct that the other two Apistogramma that has been observed do mouthbrooding are A. kelleri and A. gibbiceps?

I never had a mothbrooding apistograma so for me it would be a new experience.

Yes, A. gibbiceps & A. sp. Kelleri (it is not a scientifically described species as annotations like yours would indicate to those who understand scientific notation, but not the apisto species; one of the reasons I don't really like this name - or A. sp. Wilhelmi) are the other 2 species that are know to be larvophilic mouthbrooders.

Ok, thank you for the clarification regarding the A. sp. Kelleri
If I understand you right regarding your dislike to the name A. sp. Kelleri and A. sp. Wilhelmi. Is it becouse the names sound to much like described species?
