One of the A. Cacatuoides I recently purchased doesn’t really swim. It kinda hangs on the bottom, but can shimmy up to a couple of landing spots higher up in the tank. Genetics, disease, injury? Something I’m doing wrong?

pH: 6.4
KH: 10 ppm
GH: 60 ppm
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrites: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 40 ppm

Would greatly appreciate some help, thanks! Doesn’t look like I can post a video but if I figure it out I will. I can provide more info/more pictures if needed.

Yes, yes, no.

Probabliy this:
Nitrate: 40 ppm
Never seen a fish come back from this, sorry. Antibiotics are just a short term solution. Usually it's the holding conditions that cause stress which causes the immune system to break down and make bacterial infections possible. Once it becomes evident the fish is suffering, end it.

If you bought the fish very recently, maybe you could talk to the shop keeper about a replacement? -ofcause it depends on the wellbeing of the fish when you bought it and how well you know the shop.

Just a thought.

Got it, thanks. I’d guess the swim bladder issue happened before I got them, but I’ll keep an eye on the nitrates. The other one seems to have no issues and has settled in quite nicely at least from what I can tell.

Yeah, I’ll ask him—don’t think he’s sold fish to anyone outside of LFS before. Mistake on my part.
