So I have had my male for a few months now I hand selected him from a LFS up by my sisters house and drove an hour and a half and couldn’t be more happy with him, he’s absolutely gorgeous, AG Cocatoides super red, I’ve been getting the tank ready for them for about six months (planted and had a move to a new house in April set me back) but I was waiting and looking for females, they aren’t easy to find just single females, well I found a store to order me some in Portland, about a 2 hour drive for me and again they are awesome, they gave me a great price so I went down to get them. Well I brought them homeboy last week and immediately my male paired up with the bigger female and last night I discovered eggs under a log in a little cave. It took less than a week.
As for my setup: I have a 20L planted tank with some random plants, I believe they’re all Amazonia so they would be natural for the fish, i put a couple lava rocks in the center which created a couple caves and a log in the corner and a small clay pot in the other corner.
Filtration: small sponge, with a homemade PVC Canister filter with course foam, lava rock and some screen bags.
Substrate: organic soil, white fine sand, and so fluval mixed in.
