Can anyone recommend a fish companions with my Apistogramma Agassizii's? Anything like a corydoras. Any recommendations for a small alage eater as well. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Corydoras are excellent Apistogramma fry predators so if you have any then you can expect a lot of any fry produced to be eaten! Also the Apistos know they are after their babies and will chase them off rather purposefully and give them a hard time! Havign said that, if they have enough room to get out of the way and you don't mind them eating any babies then they will be fine.
As to algae eaters, if you have enough algae and detritus then Otocinclus are excellent for peaceful tanks. Just make sure you keep them well-fed after they have eaten the algae (I find they love granular food and Nori algae sheets).
Other companions that are in with my Aggies are Lampeye killifish, Chromaphyosemion bivitattum killifish and Nannostomus eques pencilfish.
