Did anyone who attended the ACA convention in Cincy over the weekend see the B. cupido in the show? That thing was awesome. I'd sure like to know who the fish belonged to and how they got it.
I'm looking for some first hand experience on any of these guys. Specifically, I'd like to get your impressions of these species summed up in a few sentences if possible. TIA.
Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi
Cynotilapia afra
Neolamprologus leleupi
Julidochromis ornatus

Help!! I need some non-CO2 needy, low light plants. And I don't want to be adding a bunch of chemicals either. I've got a 75g tank with some plants that are turning to mush. The only thing doing reasonably well are anubias. Everything else is failing. I'm terrible with plants but prefer them...
Anyone have any suggestions for a nice colorful dwarf African that prefers a sand substrate? I already know about the Xenotilapias, so I'm looking for other suggestions. Thanks.
I think I already know what I'm going to do, but I thought I'd share this problem with you and see what choice you'd make. I've got a single male Crenicichla compressiceps being held for me at my lfs. I'm waiting for another shipment of them to come in so I can get a female to have a breeding...
This may prove to be too vague for you "technicians" of the hobby, but I thought this would be an interesting question. What would you consider the optimum water parameters (TDS, gH, kH, pH) for a large sized (~70-90 gal.) general Apisto tank (non-breeding)? Let's assume that the Apistos are not...
Anyone know where I can get some dwarf pikes (Crenicichla)? I'm going to the ACA convention later in the week, so hopefully I can hook up with some there. I've read that Jeff Rapps and David Soares occasionally have some, but I'm looking for other leads. I'm interested in the following species...
What do you guys and gals use as your swimming algae control in your apisto tanks when you've got a little more algae than you want? I've got a snowball pleco in a large tank with an apisto and another dwarf, but it doesn't look to me like the pleco is interested in algae. Just looking for...
My Laetacara dorsigera has what appears to be a small blue lump on one of its eyes. It is on the exterior of the eye, but doesn't appear as a cloudiness. I just noticed it today. I was thinking a corneal edema or ulcer after looking up some info. Anyone ever have anything like this and, if so...
This little guy hitched a ride with a shipment of A. gibbiceps to my lfs and they didn't know what he was. I grabbed him and I think it's A. steindachneri. Anyone feel differently? He's about 1".

For all of you SA dwarf keepers, make this post pleasant instead of a chore (and don't just read everyone elses answers).
Hypothetically, you're going to be given a 30g tank and all the desired equipment for keeping SA dwarfs, all for free. You're then told you can choose one species of...
I'm sure everyone gets tired of this kind of post, but I'm looking for info on people's practical experience here. I've got a newly acquired 75g nearly cycled and my plan is to keep multiple species of apistos/dwarfs in it. Available to me locally are the following:
A. gibbiceps
A...
Has anyone ever kept SA puffers (or any other puffers) in the same tank with Apistos? I'm considering it and I wanted to see if anyone has had any real problems with the combination. TIA.
