Leaves in the tank

Maybe a silly question, but when you have leaves on the bottom of the tank, how do you make sure to clean the sunstate? Or don't you have to worry about it? I have a planted tank but wanted to add some oak leaves for the tannins and looks. I have access to willow oak leaves, long and narrow like willow, but definitely oak.

Thanks!!

I just try to vacuum up debris around the leaves. Sometimes I move the leaves a little to get underneath as long as I know no fish have eggs underneath. As the leaves breakdown and fall apart I vacuum that up too.
