A. sp. Roca Eterna (rock of ages ???) Really??? Where is info on this fish Mike? I don't see it in the Datz South American "book" or the Koslowski book.

This is a species that TomC & I got while in Peru. I orginally thought that it might be the "Caudalfleck" morph of A. sp. Papagei (A 92). Its females show a caudal patch very similar to A. sp. Papagei. The males look something like A. sp. Papagei, but are not as intensely colored and have a squared-off/truncated tail. My largest male - easily 8 cm SL! - is beginning to show hints that it might develop double caudal tips like those of some mature cruzi & eunotus males. We were told that it did not come from the Río Ampiyacu, where the Pebas & Papagei forms originate. They are said to come from a river farther west between Orán and Pebas. It might be an intermediate between cruzi forms and Pebas forms.
