So I decided to make the switch from fine gravel to sand. A first for me but something I've wanted to do for a while. I plumped for playsand and it seems to have worked quite well, even if it did take a lot of washing. Still slightly cloudy but nothing a water change won't fix.

    Before the change.

I got rid of the artificial plants, moved the decor around and purchased some java moss and attached it to some slate. I bought some LED lighting too, to supplement my existing lights and give me a greater range of lighting options.

    After the change.

I managed to complete the changes leaving the decor and fish in the tank and this doesn't seem to have caused any problems at all. I also switched my filter and spray bar to the horizontal.
