Wow those are pretty nice images.

Your fishroom interests me. Could we get some more info on the setups? It looks like youve got many 10 gallons filled half way or less and they are all tainted with tannins. Are these all apisto breeding setups and growouts? It intruiges me as i was just recently pondering on building a setup simular to yours.

For the set-up, only half the room is shown!!

In those 2 racks, the bottom consists of only 1 30 gallon tank. The 2 other shelves have 1 15 gallon tank, with 2 10 gallon tanks, 1 on each side.

I've got another rack that we don't see on one side, which has 4 10 gallon tanks on each of 3 shelves.

Most are only filled halfway, or enough for the corner filter to work, mostly due to a bit of neglect, but also prevents them from jumpung out, as none of the tanks are covered yet. As soon as I can make covers for each tank, I will fill up the tanks.

Some are tainted due to some driftwood that was in the tank at the time, or oak leaves, or some coconut shells. Keeps the fish a bit happier, less jumpy!

That's pretty much it!

I'll be numbering each tank in the near future, with a reference to each on the site, and probably on the pictures also.

I agree with Mervin. Too bad you still don't have the species. It's still rare in the hobby. A supplier somewhere down the chain seems to have thought that the 'Jurua' was the same as A. juruensis. This is precisely the reason why Koslowski suggested not using the name "A. sp. Juruá" and suggested A. sp. Cruzeiro as an alternative. I now use 'Cruzeiro' in all of my programs.

Very interesting :)

If I'm correct, the person from who I got mine still has the original wild caught pair.

Any more info on this species?

A. sp. Cruzeiro/Juruá/Goias Red-tail is a blackwater species from around Cruzeiro do Sul in western Brazil. It requires soft acid water to reproduce. Definitely not as easy to breed as A. cacatuoides! Check some of the earlier posts on the forum. It has be discussed before.
