Ick treatment for Apistos

What's a sound way to treat an apisto of ick? I just got a pair of A. Papagei and I lost the male I originally had to god knows what, no signs of disease, just started hiding and turned up dead the next day. Now my female is scratching, the water quality is perfect as it's a moderately planted tank. Ph 6.8 hardness is usually around 2dh, though I can't seem to find my hardness test kit right now.

Will salt be ok for the pair and pencilfish? or should I use <sigh...> meds

If it is ick and you can see white spot on the fish the best and easyest way to get rid of them is to raise the temp to 30c for a week.

It seems to have subsided with a water change and temperature raise, I'll leave it as is for awhile and see what happens. The good news is I at least have a spawn from the original male right now, they spawned on monday. His genes will live on to see another day =)
