I'm Rodger. I've had tanks, including apistos before but we've moved so I'm starting over with hard alkaline local tap water. I'll look for advice in the appropriate forum but just wanted to say Hi and thank this site for being here. My tank right now has 8 lemon tetras, , 3 julii corys, 4 hatchets, a clown pleco, a pile of bogwood, some plants, oak leaves and a bag of Fluval peat granules. The cat sits there for hours at a time.

Nice tank. I'm in Vermont and suffer with well water like yours. I used an RO filter when I had saltwater tanks and have kept using it since going back to fresh. Sure would be easier if I wanted to go back to Tanganyikans, but I seem to be drawn to fish that like opposite water conditions-discus, SA cichlids, etc.
