Apistoguy52 is right. Apistogramma sp. steel blue male.
Not meaning to hijack this thread, but does anyone know what species are theorized to have created this probable hybrid, or is there more evidence pointing to wild populations of similar fish?
This is a domestic strain developed in SE Asia. Some ideas are that it is a cross of a caetei- with a resticulosa-complex species, a inbred color enhanced caetei-complex species, and even a wild species of unknown origin. What we do know is that some European populations most likely are hybrids since, according to Römer, breeders used "A. caetei" females (of unknown origin) to breed with male Steel-blues.
