well i got my co2 diffuser figured out today. i have a single stage water filter canister, which i converted to a co2 diffuser. i removed the filter, and made a piece of 1" pvc pipe, cut to length in place of the filter cartridge. then i got some 'o' rings for the top and bottom, to seal it in there, and drilled 3/8" holes in the pipe in the bottom third of the pipe. water flows real easy, and i hope to see how effective it is. this will go inline and before my magnum.
the co2 will be bubbled into the filter intake, and will pool at the top of the water filter. as water rushes by, it will dissolve the co2. it should also double as an o2 diffuser, by simply placing an airline in the filter intake, and when partially filled with air, will dissolve the air into the water, for a night time o2 source. and i will be able to minimise surface agitation, and maintain co2 levels. (no ph swings, day and night)
that means i will be using the magnum as a filter, a co2 diffuser pump, and a tank empty and re-fill pump. that is what i wanted, and it should work great. i will get a camera, and take some crappy pics of things as i put the tank together. the hood gets built next weekend, and will take another week or so to finish and wire. then it is time for plants. it is getting close now.
