From what I understood, chlorine is harmful for the RO membrane. That's why RO units usually have a carbon filter fitted before the RO membrane to remove the chlorine from the water. So that would make RO water chlorine free, if there's a carbon filter fitted in the system.

My RO unit has also three stages, I think that's pretty much universal. That means:

1st: sediment filter to filter out larger particles
2nd: carbon filter to remove (A.O.) chlorine
3rd: the actual RO membrane.
