I have 1m and 3f apistogramma nijsseni. How will I know if they establish a breeding pair? I don't think they're old enough yet. I only have 1 at or over 2 inches. My male I think is still young. Any tips or anything would be great. Thanks.
When your fish become sexually mature, you'll know when a pair bond is established from their behavior. In the interim, feed them well and perform plenty of water changes. They'll grow up before you know it!
be prepared anytime for a spawn. i have had fish that were barely sexable spawn. ie, make sure that the water parms are correct, each female has a good nest, there is lots of cover in the tank, and you have fry food ready. in fact, once you have everything in place and are making bbs properly, start them on it. it is a great food to get fish to spawn ime. don't overfeed it, a little goes a long way.
anytime you put males and females together, you could get a spawn. i have had them spawn in 2 days from bringing them home.
