Just thought I would ask this since I was reading something about discus.

The frozen beefheart stuff they sell at most shops. Would this be something that is pretty much for discus only or could I use it for my laetacara dorsigeras?

If not I'm curious why. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't feed beefheart unless I had a BB tank and planned on vacuuming it a lot. Very messy stuff

you can certainly feed beefheart to other cichlids. Like matt said. if you are using it in a tank that is decorated, you are going to need to use it in very small amounts, and be sure to pay attention to where uneaten scraps go and siphon them off right away. Beefheart is very messy, and can foul your water rather quickly.
