Hi Mike!

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I went there with Devon Graham/Project Amazonas. Just found the fish list from the trip actually.
These are the apistogrammas that we caught.

Apistigramma agassizi 10, 11, 12
Apistogramma “Pevas blue” 7
Apistogramma cacatuoides 4
Apistogramma norbeti 17
Apistogramma bitaeniata 1
Apistogramma eunotus 9, 12
Apistogramma “Santa Ana blue” similar to a blue A. eunotus, but that’s a whitewater fish 17
Apistogrammoides pucalpaensis 3, 5, 11, 19

So eunotus should be correct. Are they both male you think?

Thanks,
H

Hi Hako !

My guess is...

A1 is absolutely a male.. (high dorsal fin with extended lappets + several fin patterns )
A2 is probably a female.... (shorter dorsal+anal+pelvic fins, more dense(?) black markings in dorsal(nr 1-3) +pelvic fins than the male, less or lacking of patterns/stripes in the caudal + anal fins.

It also looks like "she"(A2) is not trying to escape or avoid the male when he is present. (In one of the pics..)

They both look like males to me, but of course I could be wrong. I don't think you understood my question about the collecting location for the eunotus fish. I'm sure they were collected in Peru, but I was curious if you collected them within the city limits of Iquitos. My guess is no.

Hi Mike,

Yeah my bad. No they weren't collected in the city of Iquitos.

This is what I have from the fish list for the locations:

Saccarita to Myaruna Caño
Aucayo; 30ppm; pH <5.5
Santa Ana; a blackwater creek and pool

Thanks again,
H
