Hi all,

I recently received a group identified as opals from a mail order source. They are juveniles and are a bit more than 1" in length. However, their facial markings are blue rather than red. Will the markings turn red after they grow out a bit? Since I don't have a proper camera am unable to post a pic.

Best regards, Walt

Apistogramma borelli are quite variable but the Opal variety has always developed many red markings about their head and gill covers for me.
Your fish sound like they are young enough that they have still not had enough time to develop all of their potential colors.
