What an unusual fish! I have some ideas, but it shows none of the diagnostic dark markings needed to identify the species. It will help if you can answer some of these questions:

Does it have the large black patch on both sides of the body?

How large is it?

Was it sold with a name?

Can you describe the width of the lateral band?

Any guess from which country it was imported?

Right now, I believe it belongs to the steindachneri-group, but the body is unusually elongate for species of this group. A photo of it showing its fright pattern would be helpful.

Was it sold with a name?........Ap.pertensis

Any guess from which country it was imported?..Brazil,that`s what the lfs owner told me anyway.

Based on the size & shape of the flank patch & caudal spot, I believe that it is a very thin A. hippolytae.
