A fish from Venezuela

I understand this is not the best pic, and that this fish is thin, but I wanted to post anyway.

It came in as a contaminent from a shipment, from Venezuela, supposedly a tributary of the Orinoco basin.

Any ideas?

I could be wrong but if that came from Venezuela then an African fish has invaded there stream to me it look very much like a PSEUDOCRENILABRUS specie to me.

Thanks Peter for the hint!! Thought it looked familiar a bit!! Just didn't make the connection right away because of the thin look.

Notice any similarities??
- Blue lips
- Red edge on dorsal
- Red tip on anal fin, plus the red spots on the anal fin

Hello Ron,

Yes, I agree with Peter. Your contaminent looks like a Pseudocrenilabrus sp. to me too (P. multicolor multicolor, P. multicolor victoriae, or P. philander subspecies). Does your fish exhibit a dark blotch on the opercle? If so, it's African not South American.

Yeah, I will check the tank again. I did get some oddballs as well in a W African shipment, I must have put them in with my other oddballs and not seen it on the tank.

I will check the tank, bet it says UI W africans as well. Oh well. Maybe it will still be a nice fish. Others are in a bit better shape. Maybe I will get a pic up again later.

Did not notice a blotch in the dorsal.
