As far as I know, there's no way to predict how much red the rotkeils will have. I've seen pictures of rotkeils where they show a lot of red and others where they don't. The best thing to do is get them from a reputable vendor or from a source where you can see the parents.

My LFS has a tank of small (most aren't even an inch), gray, and (obviously) unsexable fish labelled "wild apistos". Super-cheap, but I'm curious...does anyone know if these are likely to be the same species? And will they color up at all or do wilds tend to stay less colorful?
