    Not sure what spawned here?

Looks like this might've been wrong, as I now have fry in the tank and those eggs have hatched. They could've come from caves, but that's the area where they're hanging out.

    Not sure what spawned here?

Ahh got it, makes sense. I’m good with a couple snails, so long as it doesn’t become 50. Thanks!

    Not sure what spawned here?

Just looking at the eggs online I just don’t see any that are blue-black with a white foamy substance (even among snails that look similar to the one in my tank), that’s why I’m asking.

    Not sure what spawned here?

Something in my tank spawned right where the apistos (1M1F, mostly the female) usually hang out (when they’re not in the caves). There’s an incidental snail in the tank so I’m worried it might be that and I also have a few ethical concerns given that I got my A. Cacatuoides female with the...

Just bought 2 A. Cacatuoides, one has a swimming issue

Got it, thanks. I’d guess the swim bladder issue happened before I got them, but I’ll keep an eye on the nitrates. The other one seems to have no issues and has settled in quite nicely at least from what I can tell. Yeah, I’ll ask him—don’t think he’s sold fish to anyone outside of LFS before...

Ah damn, I figured. Guess I’ll try target feeding and hope it improves, maybe antibiotics. Thanks for letting me know.

Just bought 2 A. Cacatuoides, one has a swimming issue

One of the A. Cacatuoides I recently purchased doesn’t really swim. It kinda hangs on the bottom, but can shimmy up to a couple of landing spots higher up in the tank. Genetics, disease, injury? Something I’m doing wrong? pH: 6.4 KH: 10 ppm GH: 60 ppm Ammonia: 0 ppm Nitrites: 0 ppm Nitrate...

    Need help sexing Cacatuoides

Thanks, Mike! I read a bit about that, but most of my LFS in NYC didn't sell apistos at the moment. Have never had fish shipped from the west coast before, so I got them from another hobbyist. Will keep that in mind when I set up my next tank, appreciate your help.

    Need help sexing Cacatuoides

Hi! I just was sold a pair of Apistogramma Cacatuoides (Double Red) and was wondering whether there's a male and a female. They'll probably be a bit less stressed soon and could display more color but I'd like to know as early as possible so I can make sure to be careful of aggression. Let me...
