Hi,

I cleaned one of my cannister filters and found about a dozen insect nymphs in the filter material. They look very much like mayfly nymphs of some sort. At least two species, a small green one and a larger (one inch) brown one. I assume eggs came in with plants. Do I need to worry about anything? I have not seen any in the tank.

Thanks

almost anything can come into your tank in egg or larva form when bringing in new plants. some of these things can colonise your gravel, filter or just about anywhere. i would think that just about anything that will live in your tanks will find enough to eat from food, feces, plants or even fry and fish when grown. i bleach treat all new plants.
