Hi everyone
I have a harem of A. Sp Schwarzkehl, 3 females and 1 male, recently one of the females laid out her very first batch of eggs, I discovered this on Monday, she was guarding the cave continuously and taken care of the eggs constantly blowing at them, sadly on Tuesday all the eggs had been gone and I don't what happened so I come to you asking for help in order to figure it out.
As her is also my first time trying to breed apistos, maybe she ate the eggs since she never left the cave for more de 5 seconds just for chasing any who dared to get closer to the eggs. The other females have their own caves and don't bother the proud mother while the eggs were there.
Other tank mates, one nerite snail (too big to fit in the cave), a school of pencil fish marylinae (always on top of the tank) and one otocinclus.
I've feeding the inhabitants of this tank with brine shrimp mostly, some dry food and sinkin food once in a while.
Any thoughts on this scenario?
Another piece of info: since Tuesday she did not leave the cave an right now she's still there keeping the behavior like the day I found the eggs, even blowing at the space where the eggs were and also she is super yellow and kind of coaxing the male to follow her.
if she ate the eggs, is possible to her to lay another batch in a short period? how often can apistos produce eggs?
Thanks in advance and forgive any miswriting.
Peace ✌
