I'm only generally familiar with the different ways cichlids and apistos ( by the way, are they the same group, or are apistos not cichlids, I'm still confused on that classification).

I intend to prepare some caves, and the 90 gallon tank will be heavily planted. Are hongsloi cave or rock spawners? Or neither of those 2? What media will they spawn best on?

Same questions for blue rams :) I could look them up more easily than for a. hongsloi, but I've come to distrust information not from an experienced source.

Thanks :)

First of all, Apistos are Cichlids. I have had no trouble getting them to successfully breed in water with a Ph between 6.5 and 7.0, and a gh of 40 mg/L. They use small ,3" flowerpots with the drainage hole enlarged, as their spawning site.
I hope this helps.

To clarify, they're cave spawners.
Also, while some apistos readily spawn in a ph of 6.5-7, many will not and require significantly softer water to spawn.

Generally a cave is used but they don't seem to be too fussy.
