I feed them the following frozen foods: black & white mosquito larvae, daphnia, artemia, cyclops and mysis.

Some more pictures of the now a little more than 1 month old fry with bellies full of BBS:
The bellies look like they can explode any minute: can fry overeat themself?
I really need to clean the algae off the glass of the tank which contains the male: the algae makes it impossible to get a good clean shot, but I don't want to scare the female with the young too much. They are in a tank with Cardinals and Red Phantom Tetra's and she is having a hard time as it is defending the small ones (the tank wasn't set-up for breeding, more as a showtank).

Yes they can. Not sure if Apistos are known for it, but I've seen Malawian fry literally stuff themselves to the point their bellies burst open and they died from eating too much bbs.
