Are Blue rams as bad as their reputation

Caraway: 20 degrees hardness? wow that's 360 mg/L, even higher than Lake Tanganyika (200-300 mg/L)!
So much for the idea of high hardness preventing fertilization of ram eggs. Or did you use softer water during spawning?

Aarhud: try small Rasboras (espei, heteromorpha, borapetenis, dorsocellata, etc) for dithers - they're OK at high temp, swim mainly in the upper half of the water, and less piscivorous than tetras.

For my spawning setup I use RO water which is pretty close to 0 in hardness on my TDS meter. Then I add my aged tap water to get it to were I want it.

Heres the tank. Still need to add some leaf litter and hide some equipment. Red spots are where there are flat rocks sprinkled with sand, hoping the pairs will choose to spawn there.
