Caraway: 20 degrees hardness? wow that's 360 mg/L, even higher than Lake Tanganyika (200-300 mg/L)!
So much for the idea of high hardness preventing fertilization of ram eggs. Or did you use softer water during spawning?
Aarhud: try small Rasboras (espei, heteromorpha, borapetenis, dorsocellata, etc) for dithers - they're OK at high temp, swim mainly in the upper half of the water, and less piscivorous than tetras.
