    Java Moss Carpet

Thin Monofilament line is even better as you can't see it at all, although it is hard to work with! I spent ages tying riccia to rocks with this stuff but it works a treat. Cotton is good for attaching java moss, java fern, anubius etc as it will rot away in a few months by which time the...

You can keep the change Dave, just don't spend it all at once... thanks again for your help!

$45? You just charged me $55! I guess I can forgive you, seeing as you have to ship it all the way to Australia. :D I can't wait until it arrives, when is book 2 going to be complete?

Well, the wholesaler has confirmed they shipped the wrong fish... they HAD some A. sp "Miua" in that tank but all of them were sold in one batch. When the put the hippolytae in the empty tank, they forgot to change the label over! This means that I can keep the hippolytae for a very cheap...

I have set up an online image gallery with some better photos: http://www.locus.net.au/apistogramma Can you believe these were on a fish wholesaler's listing as A. sp. "Miua"?

My guess is A. hippolytae. They are looking a little drab, only just added to the tank and still a bit freaked. Can anyone give me a positive ID from these photos? http://users.bigpond.com/locusnewmedia/NAJ/images/ap01.jpg http://users.bigpond.com/locusnewmedia/NAJ/images/ap02.jpg...

    Males more fragile??

I dunno about males, but my Female macmasteri is tough as nails! When I was netting her to be moved to another tank, she managed to jump out of the net and went SPLAT on the cold cement floor... I carefully picked her up and put her back in the tank. The pair spawned a couple of weeks later.

A choice: Rio Xingu or Miua?

Thanks for the info, Neil. I have ordered 5 A. sp. "Miua" and will hopefully be picking them up this Friday! Suprisingly, the Rio Xingu were the exact same price. I saw some nice photos of Miua on the net and fell in love with them - they are quite a striking apisto. My first priority is...

    Wild Caught Apistos

I'm picking up 5 wild caught A. sp. "Miua" this Friday, and am curious as to whether I should use any sort of anti-parasite treatment as a preventative measure. These are the first wild-caught fish I will have had, they are coming via a local dealer to Australia - do you think any medication...

A choice: Rio Xingu or Miua?

"Waaaah" is the sound my bank account will make when I buy them, or perhaps the sound I would make if I came home one day to find them all dead! It's hard to get anything other than the common species of Apistos down here in Australia, what sort of price tag do these suckers have elsewhere?

A choice: Rio Xingu or Miua?

Haha sound advice! I can get 5 wild caught Miua for AU$200, which is about US$120... what ratio of male to female should I try to go for, 2:3?

A choice: Rio Xingu or Miua?

I'm going to be getting some new Apistos in the next couple of weeks but I'm unsure of which species to choose from! Option 1 - A. sp. Miua (wild caught) Option 2 - A. sp. Rio Xingu So far my dwarf cichlid experience is limited to keeping blue rams & a pair of A. macmasteri, which...

    My first Apistos!

The markings have changed now that he has settled in... more of a horizontal line than the zig-zaggy pattern before which looks much more like the photos i've seen of Macmasteris!

    My first Apistos!

Sold as A. macmasteri - can anyone confirm this?
