This fish does have interesting black markings, but it is probably a member of the macmasteri group. It is most likely a macmasteri. Does the male have that patterning all the time?

The markings have changed now that he has settled in... more of a horizontal line than the zig-zaggy pattern before which looks much more like the photos i've seen of Macmasteris!
