Yeah the only reason we took them out is because we have NEVER had a successful spawn.. ever. The parents always eat them. Been maybe 40 spawns and they always get eaten. Were just sick of it and want to try and see if this works. I know its a lot harder but hey they would have got eaten anyways
Wow beautiful pair of fish. Congrats on the babies.. although its been a while. It usually takes quite some time for the female to not eat the eggs or the wigglers. Going to be some absolutely beautiful fish when they get bigger. Magnificent male too! Ive got some eggs from apistogramma agassizi...
I believe you do have a male and female here. I am not familiar with this species but I am with other apistogrammas and judging on that, it definatly looks like you have a pair. Watch them closely and watch for her guarding any huts you have in the next few days or weeks. Im sure she will be...
Hey all! Si I have posted on here before about my fire red agassizi, trying to sex it.. I thought it was a female but it was sold to me as a male. Anyways.. I went with my gut and bought a male while in London for the auction the other weekend. Beautiful double red male to go with my beautiful...
Wow just realised I put agassizi instead of cacatuodies.. don't know how that happened. Similar courtship anyways so no big deal. Anyways they both ended up laying eggs but they don't look fertilized to me. The first batch we had didn't look fertized, some of them went white and fuzzy and then...
Yes I do see the male do that. I think they need more time as well. The females are new to the tank and I don't believe have ever bred before, but he has. He is so ready lol its funny. But yes I think both females need a little bit more time. If in time female 2 is still the same I will take her...
Oh I would never leave my apistos lol. Were bringing the Africans to the auction. I already have 5 tanks running in my small 2 bedroom bungalow so.. kinda running out of space lol. So sorry Africans but time to move on to better and bigger places lol..
Okay so I understand a bit about there courtship behaviour. I know the female is suppose to approach the male when shes ready, flash her fins, show her belly etc... But my male is the one doing this and the females will join him sometimes and the other times they will run away.
He comes at...
I would say it is that exact size right now. So should I wait to see if it grows more before assuming its a female? Like I said it looks like a female but it does have the blue speckles in the face. I wish there was a sure fire way of telling..
Yes he does have the blue specals on the face. He however is not young.. Ive had him for about 3 months and im not sure how long the guy before me had him but he got him from a big als location so not sure on the exact age but I would say just under a year maybe. When do they stop growing?
I already have 3 different species of apistogrammas in my 80 gallon community tank, as well as a few different types of rams. Its a pretty heavily planted tank with lots of caves and hiding places. Is it okay to have a bunch of different species or apistogrammas or is it better to just stick...
This fire red agassizi was sold to me as a male a few months ago. A few days ago me and my husband were looking around in our tank to find a female agassizi to breed this one with. Well after finding a female, I looked at the fire red and started to think its actually a female, rather then a...
