    Apistogramma Agassizi Spawn

Yeah the only reason we took them out is because we have NEVER had a successful spawn.. ever. The parents always eat them. Been maybe 40 spawns and they always get eaten. Were just sick of it and want to try and see if this works. I know its a lot harder but hey they would have got eaten anyways

    Hogsloi super red

Wow beautiful pair of fish. Congrats on the babies.. although its been a while. It usually takes quite some time for the female to not eat the eggs or the wigglers. Going to be some absolutely beautiful fish when they get bigger. Magnificent male too! Ive got some eggs from apistogramma agassizi...

Normal courting behavior or aggression? :s

I believe you do have a male and female here. I am not familiar with this species but I am with other apistogrammas and judging on that, it definatly looks like you have a pair. Watch them closely and watch for her guarding any huts you have in the next few days or weeks. Im sure she will be...

    Apistogramma Agassizi Spawn

Hey all! Si I have posted on here before about my fire red agassizi, trying to sex it.. I thought it was a female but it was sold to me as a male. Anyways.. I went with my gut and bought a male while in London for the auction the other weekend. Beautiful double red male to go with my beautiful...

    Apistogramma Agassizi Courtship Behaviour

Wow just realised I put agassizi instead of cacatuodies.. don't know how that happened. Similar courtship anyways so no big deal. Anyways they both ended up laying eggs but they don't look fertilized to me. The first batch we had didn't look fertized, some of them went white and fuzzy and then...

    Apistogramma Agassizi Courtship Behaviour

Yes I do see the male do that. I think they need more time as well. The females are new to the tank and I don't believe have ever bred before, but he has. He is so ready lol its funny. But yes I think both females need a little bit more time. If in time female 2 is still the same I will take her...

    Apistogramma Agassizi Courtship Behaviour

Okay so I understand a bit about there courtship behaviour. I know the female is suppose to approach the male when shes ready, flash her fins, show her belly etc... But my male is the one doing this and the females will join him sometimes and the other times they will run away. He comes at...

    Apistogramma Agassizi... Male or Female

I would say it is that exact size right now. So should I wait to see if it grows more before assuming its a female? Like I said it looks like a female but it does have the blue speckles in the face. I wish there was a sure fire way of telling..

    Apistogramma Agassizi... Male or Female

Yes he does have the blue specals on the face. He however is not young.. Ive had him for about 3 months and im not sure how long the guy before me had him but he got him from a big als location so not sure on the exact age but I would say just under a year maybe. When do they stop growing?

Is it okay to mix different species of Apistogrammas?

I already have 3 different species of apistogrammas in my 80 gallon community tank, as well as a few different types of rams. Its a pretty heavily planted tank with lots of caves and hiding places. Is it okay to have a bunch of different species or apistogrammas or is it better to just stick...

    Apistogramma Agassizi... Male or Female

This fire red agassizi was sold to me as a male a few months ago. A few days ago me and my husband were looking around in our tank to find a female agassizi to breed this one with. Well after finding a female, I looked at the fire red and started to think its actually a female, rather then a...

    Apistogrammas with Neolamprologus caudopunctatus?

My apistos live fine in the hard water. My water is pretty hard at my house.. about 400-500 ppm. Usually any fish will adapt to changes in hard water. Its just when the apistos spawn they need soft water. Never the less me and my hubby have decided just to take them to the auction with us this...

    Apistogrammas with Neolamprologus caudopunctatus?

Ive actually had these guys together for a few months in my 80 gallon. I have 6 of the Neolamprologus caudopunctatus and about 10 apistogrammas. The Neolamprologus caudopunctatus don't seem aggressive at all towards any of the fish. I mean they do there chasing sometimes but no tail nipping. I...

    Everything About Breeding Apistogramma Cacatuoides

Okay so the tank is all set up the way we want it. Only thing to change is the fake plants to real ones (once we get some for cheap at the London auction this weekend). Despite us in there all weekend changing things a female laid eggs. On Friday we got a adjustable heater and sponge filter...

    Everything About Breeding Apistogramma Cacatuoides

The water is where it needs to be and so is the light in the tank now, its very dim in there. The transition into sand will happen this weekend as well as adding moss and more plants. There is a different male and female in there now because those 2 wernt interested in each other and they looked...
