My aquarium club, Oklahoma City Aquarium Association (OKCAA), is planning a native fish collecting trip on Saturday, August 30th. We'll be collecting from Barron Fork Creek near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The creek is a tributary to the Illinois River that flows out of Arkansas into SE Oklahoma. One of our members studied the river for 2 years while earning his degree so we'll have an excellent guide for the trip. Some of the species we expect to find include darters, madtoms, catfish, minnows, killies, sunfish, livebearers, etc...
Membership is not required to participate. You'll just need an Oklahoma fishing permit, a net and something to carry the fish home in like a cooler or bucket with lid. Sunscreen would be a good idea too. We'll be making plans for carpooling before the big day. If you're interested contact me here or at our website.
