Maybe one day I will have a tank without cories for a male and female but I am not going to get a pair right now as the cories are already part of the family and so I don't want to put them in danger. Pencilfish are neat but the only ones that have appealed to me are more aggressive I think I read, and very expensive. I also want whiptails at some point. One day.. :) I will definitely make sure the lid is tight, there is an opening in part of it which I will put some craft mesh over. Thanks!

Is the apistogramma hongsloi considered a slender species? And I thought the rams would be okay at 80F but it sounds like that's not the case. Guess I'll give them a miss :C Thank you again!

I would consider the hongsloi one of the stockier apisto species, in comparison to say cacatuoides or agassizii, but perhaps mine was just a bit butch :)

Good to see another hatchet fan! In my 15 gal I have a mating pair of apistogramma cacatuoides 6 hatchet and 6 celestial pearl danios!
