Chromidotilapia sp.

Hello Terje,

Looking at the photo, that fish looks like one of the Chromidotilapia guntheri types...either C. guntheri or C. cavalliensis. It's young yet, so a positive ID is difficult. Do you know where it's from? C. cavalliensis has a very limited range, while that of C. guntheri is quite extensive.

Good luck!

I got this fish with a tank I bought. The guy who sold it, told me he couldn't remember the name, but said "it's a mouthbreeding pulcher of some sort." Obviously it's not even the same genus.
How fast can I expect it to grow?

Chromidotilapia cp.

Hello Terje,

Well, it is a mouthbrooding chromidotilapiine cichlid, so your friend may not be too far off the mark.

Feed it well on low fat foods, include vegatable matter, keep up with your water changes and it should grow fairly quickly.

Good luck!

All the best,

Randall Kohn
