In fact I bought the female in a shop that had both Nijsenni and Panduro in stock, so for what concerns the female fish, I'm quite sure.

The male was bought afterwards, and is getting along very very well with the female fish

When looking at the females of both fish, you really could start wondering where the difference between both fish is...

Another picture of the male

sugar,

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

Nice pics, sugar! That last one is one of the yellowist specimens I have seen.

Neil

thx a lot

That leaves me with an apisto nijsseni male and a panduro female in my tank  . Funny thing is they are not breeding, but there are some signs in that direction...

I'm thinking of purchasing two females for my nijsseni and a male panduro.

Putting Panduro and Nijsseni in the same tank (100 gallon) seems a foolish thing to do (given the borelli's already in this tank), I have a spare 15 gallon tank; will this be big enough for just a couple of panduro's?

Or do I want to put the nijsseni in the seperate tank for some reason?

i think someone has been playing with the buttons on their photo-editing software!

join the crowd of people who have mismatched apistos etc. due to 'a death in the family'. it is a problem, but at least you have access to more of the same type from the same location. i consider this when i buy new fish- can i get new suitable mates if one dies.

Nope
I never use photoediting software. Since reinstalling my PC, I haven't reinstalled Adobe Photoshop...
The only thing I've done with this picture is reducing size.
The picture has been taken with custom white balance settings without flash.

hi sugar,
don't worry wht others say. what you have is a very nice pic of a very beautiful fish and like neil said.....that is the most yellowish nij i have also seen too.

anyway, i had a nij and a panduro spawned before....so you might want to becareful with them.
that is unless you want a hybrid apisto.

there is a farm here in Singapore that is passing off this hybrid as Nij and selling them off for just $8 !!!!

cheers,
mervin

I went this afternoon to another LFS and managed to get nijsseni females.
Strange. This is a petshop, not a specialist fish shop, and they had nijsseni, three types of agassizi, cacatuoides, macmasteri, trifasciata, hongsloi, borelli, viejita and steindacherni.

I'll wait for the reaction of the fish, if necessary I take the panduro out of my large tank and put her in my 15 gallon tank. I don't want hybrids.

sugar, i am surprised that this pic was not re-touched. the greenish yellow blotches seem to have been put in later, obviously i am wrong if you say so. i have never seen such a fish, but then there are lots of fish i haven't seen. does this fish appear in person exactly as in the photo?

yes, and what I find rather surprising is that the ones in the LFS looked quite similar
