My A. agassizii

Hi to all Apisto lovers

My name is Daniel, I'm from Romania, I'm a long time reader on this nice forum and I want to show you my agassizii trio

the male

and the females

possibly the same

they are living peacefully in a 150 liters plated aquarium with some tetras, a ramirezi pair and 3 P. scalare
will be moving them soon to a 60 liter tank made for them

Welcome! That's a GREAT looking tank (the 60l). I would think you could get the angels in there along with a few Apistos.

The bulb on them male's head is probably a nuchal hump. Many male cichlids develop this hump when the get old and fed too much fat in their diet.

Lovely fish, these guys are my next group of Apistos I'd like to get. JW what type of floating plant is that you have in the tank? Very nice looking plant btw.

the floating plant is Eichhornia crassipes

I would like to put in some Limnobium laevigatum

Hi all,
Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is a great floater, but quite difficult to keep in a tank long term, possibly because it has very high light requirements. They've always dwindled away in winter when I've had them.

There are some S. American floaters that are easier to keep, Salvinia auriculata & Limnobium laevigatum are very easy, Pistia stratiotes a little more problematic and Phyllanthes fluitans slightly more problematic again, but none of them are difficult to grow.
