Probably Oreochromis mossambicus Introduced world wide as a food fish. Grow to over 6" (I've seen specimens close to a foot long, but, they might have been hybrids), mouthbrooders, males are rather good to look at. There is a gold form out there as well. Moderately aggressive tilapiine. I'd recommend a 6'x2' tank for fully grown fish.

Very good fried :D

Rahul,

you guessed right: Oreochromis mossambicus. I did some reading in Lamboj's book. As it turns out they can grow much larger than the 6" you suggested (more like 12"). I'll stay away from them. Anyway, if anyone is interested, the fish are currently listed on AquaBid in the "Malawi" section. Don't ask me why the seller put them in that section. Anyway, here's the little bit of information that the seller could provide me with: "I have had the breeders for 4 years, they are Hybrid with original parents being a wild caught." I'm not quite sure what kind of hybrid she's talking about.
