Anyone know anything about this apisto?

It's from Peru.
I guess it's also sold commercially as "Lyre-Tail" nijsseni and/or panduro.

Pictures anyone?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi,

@blueblue:
At least the male on your pictures do not show A. martini.
It's an A. sp. Lyratail.
The female seems to be A. martini, but I'm not sure, because I don't know these species pretty well.

A. martini is, what was called A. sp. Lyratail II before... and that's originally the same as. A. sp. Morthenthaler ....relating to Römer (who described A. martini).

...and of course, both Lyratail forms (I and II) are not the same species.
So the first one is called A. sp. Lyratail further on, while the second form is A. martini now.

But, as Mike told us a few days before in another thread. A. sp. Morthenthaler is a name, used for BOTH Lyratail forms.

But I never heard of the name A. sp. Mortenthaler for the Mouthbrooder-Apisto.

best regards,
Rolo

Hi Rolo: Thanks for the clarification.
I am not sure quite the latest classification,
i know that there are Forms I and II for
A. sp. "Lyratail/Lyratail Pandura", but i do not
know that they are separate species. So, which
one is the exact fish for A. Martini?
Among hobbyists in Hong Kong and Taiwan,
people simply replace
A. sp. "Lyratail/Lyratail Pandura" by A. Martini...
and add Form I and Form II after it... (there have been
two forms imported, one is blue, one is yellow, both
with Lyratails...)

Lyratail I and Lyratail II are quite obviously different species.
A. martini is the same as Lyratail II (=Mortenthaler)

Rolo is correct, A. martini is the Form 2 (blue) form. Unfortunately, the Type 1 (yellow) form is more commonly available in North America under the name "Mortenthaler".

Thanks everyone for your input. I've got a pair coming next week. When I get them, I'll post pictures if I can. We'll see which type they turn out to be.
