I just purchased a 100g tank and I'm thinking an ivanacara adoketa colony would be pretty amazing. Does anyone have experience with such a setup?

Tank dimensions? I've see 100 gallon tanks that were long & low, 6 ft. deep and everything in between. Surface area in particular has a major bearing on what you have planned.

I doubt that a colony of I. adoketa has been tried before. Your tank should be able to keep 3 or 4 pair together - if ... and a big IF - it is properly decorated with a complex bottom structure that has many visible boundaries and places where the fish can not see across much of the tank. I. adoketa is a rather aggressive fish to other members of its species.

I am still waiting on my novus polish kit to finish the aquarium. I'm planning on maybe using a 3d background and a lot of hardscape to attach plants too. I'll have a sandy open area for the fish to sift and soil with eco complete in the back for plants. Hopefully next weekend I'll have pics of the progress.

Do you think some borellii will get along with the large acarichthys?
