ID please?

Hi there

Can anyone confirm if these are lamprologus congoensis or steatocranus gibbiceps? All pics have fish that I was told were Steatocranus gibbiceps but pic 2 have one I bought that is identified as Lamprologus congoensis - the one on the top. To me they all look like like congoensis to me but then again, I do not have a trained eye.

Those are Lamprologus sp. I cannot say for sure which species, except that congoensis is about the only west african lamp available. Not Steatocranus... mouth is all lamprolugus.

Hey Ted, thanks for that quick reply!

Do you know how to distinguish the male from the female? I have 5 altogether. Some have a bit of a nuchal hump and some not so. Some are more deeper bodied than the others.

The hump is more indicative of the males, and so is a more robust body.
