Hi!

new to the hobby and picked up a pair of Apisto labeleld as "Double red gold Cacatuoides"
I was hoping to get a pair and asked my LFS to pick for me since I don't know how.
Hoping to get definitive answer in here.

I've asked around on my local club and other forums most of them told me both males becuase of the color and not having a black line on the Ventral Fins.
but there's still a few he is convinced that I might have a pair because of the size, shorter dorsal fins, and the tail of one being rounded.
BTW pic might not show it or hard to tell but the smaller one has definitely lighter in color not really noticable but I was staring at them for almost and hour or so and definitely lighter.

any help would be appreaciated

This is my guess, only because domestic strains have females that show masculine characteristics. They look like a male and female A. cacatuoides 'Orange-flash' to me.

thank you for the reply, you're the 2nd person that mentioned about Orange Flash.
and still crossing my fingers I have a pair, they haven't showed any mating/pairing action, since I've only added them 2-3 days ago and still showing timid behavior (unless that's how they are in general), and comparing them to my pair of GBR that sticks together all the time
