I've seen a lot fo these 'steel blue's apisto's around in my area, but all males, are there any photos of a steel blue female? Is it a borellii of some sort?
Apistogramma "steel blue" is thought to be a hybrid that was developed in Asian (Singapore or similar) as the fish is not know in the wild and the first available fish in the hobby came out of Asia. Females do appear once and a while in batches (I've had the fish spawn...it's pretty undemanding) but are pretty rare.
A search on this forum for steelblue or steel blue will turn up plenty of images and information on a number of threads.
Regaurdless of the origins of the fish it's a pretty Apistogramma and if you can find females makes a good "beginer" dwarf cichlid.
