Hello everyone. I just purchased a pair of Apistogramma Aggazis last Friday, a pair of red tails. They live in my 29 gallon planted tank along with 2 Blue Rams, 2 Lemon Tetras, 2 Harlequin Rasboras, 1 Swordtail, 1 Platy and a pair of Otos. When I first added them to my tank, I didn't see much of them at all, but now the female comes out to the front of the tank to see me but the male is still a little shy. They are juvenilles so I don't think they'll spawn for a little while yet, if they do at all. I have a clay pot on one side of my tank and last night I added a coconut shell to the other, now they both occupy one on opposite sides of the tank....hopefully they'll move in together sometime soon...

Anyway, I am very excited about this pair of cuties and would like to learn I all possibly can about them.

Linda

hello linda,

Apistos will tend to be quite skittish if they're new to a tank, in an area with alot of traffic that would create a lot of movement that they can see from inside, and basically because of stress. Don't worry, it's something we all have dealt with and they will eventually become comfortable and start to get adventurous. Aggies aren't that difficult to spawn at all. Best wishes and welcome to both of you. john
