I have some N. transvestitus that are being aggressive-to be more specific I have 2 pr. in a 20 long. I will be splitting them into their own tanks and was wondering what most people use for dither fish with Nanochromis/Pelvicachromis species? I am considering getting some P. signatus or P. rubrolabiatus and I understand that both can be aggressive. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Dave,

welcome to the forum. I use tetras from West Africa as dither, but only because I like to stick with fish from that region. I'm sure there are more effective and cheaper dithers out there.

I've kept signatus a while back. Yes, they were very aggressive.

I've used a range of tetras, killifish, and even danios and similar with pelvics and all have worked well. In a small tank don't put anything precious or expensive in in case they decide to kill them!
