Oh, I probably should add... no not for the five, but the heavily planted 45G. Congo Tetras, Rhummynose Tetra, Neon Tetra schools plus a swordtail, two guppies and two (soon to be six) Ottos.
Planted dense like a jungle as my wife says. Java ferns, dwarf hair grass, anubias, amazon swords, ocelot swords, cardinals and lots of crypts and anacharis. Hmm... and some unknown plants... maybe it is a jungle.

Will have work hard to get the Apistos... actually 4, 2 M and 2 F. The girls are seriously good at hiding. The boys come out more. Granted they are super young right now. The boys are neon size.

That's good! No doubt about that.
The easier it is for them to stay hidden, the safer they feel.
And my guess is they'll soon come out more.
Your shoal of ditherfish will also have a calming effect on the apistos.
