Dither Fish

Hi folks,

I am breeding several different apistos, but mostly different Agassizii.

What I am looking for is suggestions of suitable dither fish for their tanks?

Each tank is 40x45x45cm, so I can't add too many, but just wanted to distract the Male Apistos from getting too boistrous with the females!

Anyone got some good suggestions?

Regards
Big G!

What you want is a 'target fish', not a dither fish. A target fish is a fish that is looked on as a threat (to territory, predation, etc.). A dither fish is a fish that indicates that all is well in the biotope (if nothing is eating them, then nothing will eat me.). Another male (not really recommended for small tanks) or one of the larger pyrrhunlinid or small gouramie species would work as a target. In your size tank, it might be best to remove the male once he has fertilized the eggs.
