I was wondering why female abandoned her fry after one month. At first I thought that another one have eggs so I cannot have to angry mothers in 40l tank but yesterday I was a little suprised when I so to females with group of fry 10cm from each other.

In general I noticed that this apistos are not very aggressive. Two females of catuoides in same tank would keep fighting even without babies. Even males seem to be less aggressive. After establishing hierachy they tolerate each other.

mordor,
That's great! 2 spawns for the price of one. Cara Pintada might be more mellow as a general rule, but it is still a surprise that they are not bothered by being so close to one another. You obviously just have 2 really well-mannered Apistogramma there. I wouldn't be suprised if that changed though. If one is not persistant about maintaining control of her fry, the other might well adopt them and then not tolerate her nearby anymore.
